Introduction

The Telemetry service in the SmartComponent Library is a backend monitoring and request‑logging facility for AppServer‑based applications. It records detailed information for every request handled by the SmartComponent Library service layer, regardless of the client type (SmartFramework GUI, web UI, REST, SOAP, or other OpenEdge clients).

By enabling the Telemetry service in your AppServer configuration and loading its service definitions, you gain transparent insight into how your SmartComponent Library backend is used, which requests are slow or heavily used, and where to focus performance tuning or troubleshooting.
