Release Notes
Following the release of the OpenEdge 11.7 Release we have completed our testing of the SmartComponent Library on this release of Progress and are proud to announce formal support for the SmartComponent Library on OpenEdge 11.7 with the 2017-04-24 release of the SmartComponent Library. Generally we recommend customers on OpenEdge 11 to upgrade to OpenEdge 11.7 quickly. Starting the 2017-07-14 release we are supporting OpenEdge 11.7 Service Pack 1 (11.7.1).
Starting the 2015-10-09 release the Business Entity Designer will feature a start page with links to most recent release note articles on this site.
With SCL-751 we have adopted native Enums for OpenEdge 11.6. To activate this feature customers must add a definition to products.i. SCL-751 provides details for this.
With SCL-1113 we have modified the templates for SmartWindowForms and SmartTabFolderPages generated from the Business Entity Designer. We have removed the initialization of the viewer controls SmartTableIOState property (value was set to "NoDataSource" within the InitializeComponent method). Customers using their own set of templates should adopt the same fix to their templates.
New Versions of Proparse .NET Assemblies (30 December 2018)
We have updated proparse with further enhancements in this release (see https://github.com/consultingwerk/proparse/releases/tag/4.0.1.1177). Please download the .NET Assemblies ZIP file from our ESD and replace the proparse.net.dll in your environment with the latest one. The new assembly reference is:
|
As proparse is used by our Business Entity Generator, this new version of the proparse.net Assembly is also relevant for customers not doing GUI for .NET development and require support for parsing new ABL language constructs.
This version of proparse provides additional debug information when errors are thrown from proparse.net.dll.
New Version of the Consultingwerk.SmartComponents Assemly (09 January 2019)
To support the new SmartFilterControl and the "Filter" link between the SmartFilterControl/SmartDynamciFilterControl and a SmartBusinessEntityAdapter or SmartDatasetChildAdapter we have updated the Consultingwerk.SmartComponents.dll. The new Assembly reference is:
<assembly name="Consultingwerk.SmartComponents, Version=2.2.0.49856, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=10603cb31df311b3"/>
Customers need to update this Assembly in order to compile the latest releases of the SmartComponent Library.
Hybrid Realm now using IAuthenticationService
We've updated the SmartHybridRealm class used for http authentication to leverage the IAuthenticationService. It is therefor required that for AppServers requiring http Authentication (e.g. REST or Web) the correct IAuthenticationService implementation is registered (using service.xml files).
Customers relying on the previous behavior should ensure that the Consultingwerk.SmartFramework.Authentication.AuthenticationService is regsitered as the IAuthenticationService. This implementation will auhtenticate users against the password stored in the SmartUser database table.
When users with no Login Company set should be able to login using the SmartHybridRealm, it's required to set the Login Company Tennant Domain (similar to the field in the Login Company Maintenance) in the .restapplicationsettings / .applicationsettings, e.g.:
"DefaultAuthenticationDomain": "consultingwerk" |
This is required as the Hydrid Realm Interface from Progress does not provide the domain name to the authentication method.

UTF-8 based deployments available
Starting August 14th 2016 we ship our source code also as UTF-8 encoded. The ZIP files ending with _utf8.zip contain the source code encoded with that code page. The source code in the remaining archives is still encoded in ISO8859-1. Also on Github there is a new branch containing the OpenEdge 11 based source code in UTF-8.

Overview of included tickets
Bug
SCL-4602 Delete patternsets no longer delete dsBusinessEntity include required in SmartFramework tools
Description:
We have updated the “delete” patternsets in the build/smartcomponents.xml as they have been deleting some include files now required by parts of the SmartFramework during compilation.
SCL-4641 BufferHelper:UniqueFindPredicate.... methods now handles ROWID fields with TO-ROWID function
Description:
The BufferHelper:UniqueFindPredicate methods now properly support ROWID fields by using the TO-ROWID function in the generated query string.
SCL-4642 Fixed styling of Validation Settings editors in the Business Entity Designer
Description:
We have fixed the styling of the Validation Settings of fields in the Business Entity Designer to match the new Infragistics Stylesheet used in the Business Entity Designer.
SCL-4643 Fixed issue with cancelling add of Table in Business Entity Designer plugin "Assign skip list"
Description:
When the user pressed the “Cancel” button in the “Index Selections” plugin dialog, the AssignSkipList plugin was still showing the question if or if not the fields of the primary unique index should be added to the assign skip list.
This issue is now resolved.
SCL-4644 Fixed styling of menu function properties in menu function maintenance
Description:
We have fixed the styling of the menu function property user controls to match the new Infragistics Stylesheet used by the SmartComponent Library tools.
SCL-4647 Fixed typo in class name of Consultingwerk.Windows.Controls.MultilpleEntriesPickerEditor
Description:
We have fixed the typo in the above mentioned class name and renamed the .cls file.
SCL-4648 Fixed invalid BUFFER-COPY Statement generated by static-queries Business Entity Designer Plugin
Description:
In certain cases, the static-queries Business Entity Designer Plugin may have produced invalid BUFFER-COPY statements. This has been fixed now.
Improvement
SCL-4083 Implemented Lookup Property Dialogs in the Repository
Description:
We have implemented property dialogs for the MetaBusinessEntityLookup class in the SmartFramework repository for the most important properties.
SCL-4353 Added ColumnChooser to Telemetry Data Viewer Grid
Description:
We have added a column chooser to the stand alone Telemetry Viewer Windows application.
SCL-4437 Implemented variable OS environment substitution for JSON Config Files
Description:
We have implemented variable substitution based on the OpenEdge TokenResolver class ( https://github.com/consultingwerk/ADE-Sourcecode/blob/master/src/corelib/OpenEdge/Core/Util/TokenResolver.cls ). This now supports resolution of environment variables using token such as _${env.COMPUTERNAME}_.
SCL-4486 Dropped PCT.jar from the SmartComponent Library deployments
Description:
We are no longer shipping PCT.jar as part of the SmartComponent Library, as all supported versions of OpenEdge now include a compatible version of PCT.jar in the %DLC%\pct folder.
So we’re not longer including this in the Setup/Install/PCT folder of the SmartComponent Library. Customers relying on “our” copy of the PCT.jar should update their scripts to reference the PCT.jar provided by Progress Software as part of OpenEdge.
SCL-4526 Added image to security realm configuration
Description:
A security realm may now be identified by an image along with the code and the name. The images (16x16) may be maintained in the Security Realm Maintenance and will appear in the various screens showing security realm (e.g. Security Assignment, Security Assignment verification).
SCL-4636 Added additional DatasetAssert Methods
Description:
We have added additional DatasetAssert methods that allow to assert for error messages of fields in a TableModel instance.
SCL-4638 Added non-unique Index on SmartObjectMaster.DesignTimeDataSourceGuid
Description:
We have added a non-unique index on the SmartObjectMaster.DeisgnTimeDataSourceGuid field. This index is used in referential-integrity and when searching for an Object Master based on the design-time data-source.
SCL-4645 BusinessEntityDescriptorClient now uses Business Entity directly when on PASOE
Description:
Previously the BusinessEntityDescriptorClient was always using the ServiceAdapter and thus potentially an extra AppServer call to obtain the BusinessEntityDescriptor of a Business Entity.
SCL-4646 Ability to generate UIControl class for a specific viewer
Description:
We have implemented a new plugin for the repository object master designer: Consultingwerk.Windows.Framework.Repository.Object.GenerateUiControlPlugin
This plugin supports to generate a strong typed UiControl class, providing properties to obtain the field control for every field of a MetaViewer object master. This resolves the need to use oUiControl:FieldControl[“CustNum”] in server-side event handlers.
SCL-4649 Upgraded CefSharp to v130.1.90
Description:
CefSharp has been updated to v130.1.90. See https://github.com/cefsharp/CefSharp/releases/tag/v130.1.90 for details.
SCL-4650 Generation of dataset XSD files now includes fields that are defined with SERIALIZE-HIDDEN
Description:
By default the WRITE-XMLSCHEMA property of the ProDataset object handle will now add fields to the schema file that are SERIALIZE-HIDDEN. This may impose a problem when those XSD files are used to defined the datasets for parameters to @RestMethod methods.
Now, when a Business Entity Designer diagam contains SERIALIZE-HIDDEN fields, we’ll produce a second XML schema file with the _full name suffix that includes all fields, even when designed as SERIALIZE-HIDDEN in the Business Entity Designer.
New Feature
SCL-3902 Reimplemented Telemetry Data Viewer in C#
Description:
We have reimplemented the Telemetry Data Viewer application in C#. This allows to execute this on any Windows PC without depending on an OpenEdge installation. The binaries of this application can be downloaded from the ESD. Customers interested in this application, should request access to this application in the ESD though a support desk ticket.
We will leave the ABL based version of this application in the SmartComponent Library for now. However we will not add new features to the ABL based variant of the Telemetry Data Viewer application (functionally stable).
SCL-4441 Added complete user name to the Scheduler Job Monitor in SmartFramework BackOffice Application
Description:
We have added the complete user name to the Scheduler Job Status monitor in the SmartFramework backoffice application as a new column in the grid control.
Story
SCL-4651 Business Entity Designer now provides ability to resolve OF references in the Source Default Query
Description:
The popup editor of the Business Entity table source-default query now provides a button that will resolve OF relation predicates with actual relation fields based on equality. This functionality is based on a new method in the QueryHelper.
